Yes, in Victoria you need a licence for any motorcycle or scooter. If you've had some experience on a motorbike you can do a 6 hour course or the 9 hour if you have no experience.
People who have hired a scooter on holiday would be comfortable with the 6 hour course although the 9 hour covers a lot more defensive riding techniques. The Victorian government is currently looking at a scooter specific licence which will be cheaper and faster to obtain.
Below are two of the best training facilities in Melbourne, so call and we can book you in.

Service intervals vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. 500 km for your first service is common. Some stipulate anything from 300 km's to 1000 km's. All service books will have a recommended service schedule in them.
Generally within the first 500 km's, a new scooter will 'loosen up' quite a bit and may require tightening of certain components. After your first service you'll be looking at intervals of around 2000 - 3000 km's.
Keep in mind though, your warranty can become void if you do not adhere to recommended intervals and use unauthorised workshops to carry out services.
We do trade in's on all bikes, so if you have a worn out petrol guzzler that you want to trade in for a cool little scooter, give us a call.
All new scooters come with warranties. They vary depending on manufacturer or extension options if taken out when purchased. In general they range from 12 months on the Sachs range up to 4 years on Bug's.
Manufacturers have strict warranty guidelines that state what they will and won't cover. It's very important that you read and understand the warranty that comes with your new scooter.
ORC stands for On Road Costs. We don't usually advertise scooter prices with ORC because they can vary depending on your purchase price, postcode and government assistance that you might be eligible for.
In general ORC covers registration, TAC Insurance, stamp duty, number plate fee and dealer delivery charges. It can range from $260 to $600 plus.

A general rule on thumb is to take it easy for the first 200 to 500 km's. That means no Calder Park drag meetings! Instead of maintaining constant speed as you might on a long highway ride, vary your Kilometres per hour to allow the engine to operate at all RPM's.
Certain bits and pieces will work their way loose throughout this period which is to be expected and why we always opt for an earlier scheduled service than suggested by the manufacturer. Call for more info.
We carry scooters from France, Japan, Germany, Italy, Taiwan and China. Reliability and price are the main concern of most riders and the small percentage that like to make a fashion statement at a premium price can usually source an Italian brand elsewhere.
Some interesting facts: Honda scooters are currently the biggest selling scooter in Europe and the SH150 and @125 are actually built in Italy. Their quality and performance is second to none and it's almost impossible to break one. The massive scooter riding Asian market have been trotting around on bulletproof Honda's, Kymco (Bug) and TGB scooters since motors were invented!
Peugeot have been making scooters since 1953. They are brilliant pieces of machinery stacked with goodies like disc brakes, ABS, liquid cooling and fuel injection. All models come with 2 year warranty.
Sach's are the oldest bike manufacturer in Germany. They have been around since 1886 and are now assembling their bikes out of China. Our best seller is the Sach's City 150 for its no fuss cool retro styling and performance. The Madass 125 has taken the world by storm with it's quirky German design and affordability.
Key points to consider: Price (including annual registration), economy and storage. Availability and pricing of parts and servicing is a big issue for some. Warranty period and brand history is also important.
